Here are the most recent New York City social media ratings.

Overall: WNYW (Fox O&O) increased their overall Share slightly over the last 30 days as they held on to first among local news stations on social media in the New York City market. The Fox station generated more than 3 million Engagements in that time, a +10.2% increase from the month prior. There were no changes in the overall station rankings in NYC from month to month.

WNYW had a 37.8 overall Share in the last 30 days, followed by WABC (ABC O&O) with a 28.9 overall Share and WPIX with a 13.7 overall Share. The other four stations Share Rocket tracks in the market had overall Share scores in the single-digits. WNYW was the top station in the market on Facebook and the main WNYW account was the top Facebook Page in the market overall. WABC was the market’s top station on Twitter, and the main WABC account was the top Twitter account in the market. WABC was also the top station in NYC on Instagram, however, the top Instagram account in the market was WNYW’s primary account.

Overall in the market, Engagement increased slightly in the last 30 days compared to the 30 days prior. Five of the seven station Share Rocket tracks in New York City saw month-to-month increases in Engagement, while two decreased.

On Facebook, WNYW had a 40.1 Share as a group, followed by WABC with a 26.0 Share and WPIX with a 14.3 Share. WNYW’s primary Facebook Page is a powerhouse in the market, accounting for 38.55 of the station’s group Share score on the platform. The main WNYW Page generated more than 2.4 million Engagements and averaged more than 2,100 Engagements per post in the last month. WNYW’s main Page generated nearly doubled the amount of Engagement of the next-best performing Page in the market. WCBS (CBS O&O) had a good month on Facebook, moving from fifth among stations to fourth after the WCBS main Page saw a +28.8% increase in Engagement from month to month and a +15.2% increase in Share. The top individual in the market on Facebook was WABC meteorologist Bill Evans, who generated more than 50,000 Engagements on his Page in the last 30 days. In fact, WABC had all of the top three individuals in NYC on Facebook in the last month and combined, they generated more than 126,000 Engagements. The top sub-brand in the market was WPIX Archives, which had a 0.84 Share and averaged more than 1,300 Engagements per post.

On Twitter, WABC had a 38.8 Share as a group, followed by WNBC (NBC O&O) with a 24.6 group Share, WPIX with a 12.4 group Share, and WNYW with a 10.9 group Share. WPIX moved from fourth among stations on Twitter to third over the last 30 days thanks to a +33.7% month-to-month increase in Engagement as a group. WABC has a large advantage in Audience size compared to other stations in the market. As a group, WABC has more than 1.36 million combined followers, while no other station has more than 650,000. In fact, WABC’s main station Twitter account – with nearly 646,000 followers on its own – has more followers by itself than any other station has as a group. WABC’s main station Twitter account had a 17.42 Share on its own and generated more than 57,000 Engagements in the last 30 days. The top individual in the NYC market in the last month on Twitter was WNBC reporter Brian Thompson, who had huge month-to-month increases in SEI, Share, Audience, and Engagement. Thompson generated more than 22,000 Engagements on Twitter.

On Instagram, WABC had a 36.7 Share as a group, followed closely by WNYW with a 35.2 group Share, and WPIX with a 12.2 group Share. As groups, both WABC and WNYW generated more than a half-million Engagements on Instagram in the last 30 days. WNYW’s main Instagram account was No. 1 in the NYC market and generated more than 310,000 engagements on its own. WABC’s main Instagram account has the largest Audience in the market with about 140,000 followers and averaged an impressive 1,640 Engagements per post. The top individual in the market on Insta was WABC meteorologist Amy Freeze, who had a 7.84 Share on the platform by herself and generated more than 123,000 Engagements. She was followed by WABC anchor/reporter Toni Yates, who chipped in another 62,000+ Engagements for the station. WNYW’s top individual on Instagram was anchor Rosanna Scotto, who had a 3.59 Share on the platform.

WABC’s Amy Freeze was the top individual on social media in the New York City market over the last month after she generated more than 157,000 Engagements across all platforms. Freeze was first among individuals on Instagram, third on Twitter, and seventh on Facebook. On Instagram, she averaged more than 1,600 Engagements per post. WABC’s Toni Yates was second overall after she finished second among individuals on Instagram and sixth on Twitter. Yates jumped from fourth among individuals last month to second this month and generated more than 80,000 Engagements across all platforms. WABC meteorologist Lee Goldberg was third in the market after he generated more than 68,000 Engagements on social media in the last 30 days (which was a +32.5% increase from the 30 days prior). Goldberg was second among individuals on Facebook and Twitter, and came in just outside the top 10 on Instagram. WNYW’s Rosanna Scotto was fourth overall, powered primarily by her Instagram account. Scotto generated about 54,000 Engagements on that platform. Finally, WABC anchor/reporter Michelle Charlesworth rounded out the top five. She finished among the top five individuals on both Facebook and Instagram and generated more than 67,000 total Engagements in the last month.

Of the top 10 individuals in the market, six work for WABC, three work for WNYW, and one works for WPIX.
